Company history

Denplan was founded in 1986 by two dentists who wanted to offer their patients an alternative to NHS dentistry. They created a system that simplified administration within the dental practice and allowed dentists to spend more time with their patients, focusing on preventive oral healthcare and providing high quality treatment.

Since then, Denplan has launched a number of key products and services:

1986	Denplan founded by dentists to revolutionise the way patients fund dentistry.
1986	Denplan Care launched; the first fully comprehensive dental capitation plan for a preventive approach.
1998	Denplan for Groups launched; arranging dental payment plans for employees of companies of all sizes. Around 1,900 companies include Denplan as an employee benefit for their staff.
2000	Denplan Excel launched; the first independently validated Clinical Governance Accreditation programme.
2001	Denplan Essentials launched; a dental maintenance plan to cover the basics of oral health care.
2003	Denplan Enhance introduced; an interest-free loan for patients to spread the cost of high-value dental treatment.
2003	Implant Upgrade Cover introduced; an optional insurance to cover patients for the cost of implants due to dental trauma.
2004	Plans for Children launched; for dentists to build tailor-made dental payment plans for their younger patients.
2006	Online Patient Registration introduced; allowing patients an easy and convenient way to register with their dentist.
2007	Denplan launches it's support campaign for Dentaid, an oral health charity helping disadvantaged people across the world.
2007	Denplan Essential Plus and Denplan Extensive Plus launched; enhancing the company plan offerings.
2007	VT Plus launched; providing extensive postgraduate support for post-VT and recruitment of associates for practices.
2007	Denplan Online Services launched; a range of administrative services for dentists and patients.
April 2008	Pet Health Plans launched; dedicated to working with vet practices to offer pets preventive health plans.
May 2008	Denplan Excel for Children launched; an accreditation programme developed with leading paediatric dentists.
August 2008	Denplan Essentials Direct introduced; offering patients the facility to apply for Denplan Essentials online.
October 2008	Membership Plan launched; allowing patients to register with their preferred dentist.
January 2009	Denplan Preventers launched; educating younger patients on good oral health.
May 2009	Denplan launches its new look brand with the strapline - At the heart of dental care.
September 2009	The Denplan Stairway programme launched; allowing dentists the chance to build up educational credits towards an MSc in Primary Dental care at the University of Birmingham.
October 2009	Denplan embraces social media and launches its Facebook, Twitter and Blog pages.
January 2010	Health Plans for Pupils launched; a range of health solutions for pupils at independent schools.
Today	Now employing over 300 people, Denplan is the UK's leading dental payment plan specialist with over 6,500 member dentists, around 1,900 company plans and approximately 1.8 million patients.
