What our employees say

What it's like working for Denplan

We believe that Denplan is a great place to work and that our people make the difference. We asked a few people from different teams around the business to tell you a bit about themselves and why they like working here.

Nosa Obadigie - Corporate Accounts Manager

Nosa Obadigie

“Before joining Denplan I studied music and music technology at university but found the industry hard to get into. I did some temping work in London for a while before moving back to Hampshire.

I joined the Corporate Administration team at Denplan in October 2006. My role involves working with our key corporate clients like JP Morgan providing admin support.

We update the schemes with starters, leavers and other changes liaising heavily with the sales and claims departments. April is our busy time of year when we work on the majority of policy renewals for corporate schemes.

I would say the atmosphere is the best thing about working for Denplan. There are no bad vibes; it's a really good working environment.”

Georgie Pretty - IT Administrator

Georgie Pretty

“I worked for BT for ten years, leaving after taking redundancy then went back and worked as a temp for another five years. I then moved near Winchester and wanted to work closer to home so found a job in the IT department of a construction company.

Typically, after two years they relocated to Southampton so I was back on the commute! In May 2006 I joined Denplan. My role is IT Administration which involves creating new user accounts, changing passwords and so on.

I like working here because the days fly by! It's a nice place to work; the people are all really nice, plus I get the chance to have my say which is great.”

Angela Brice - PA to Sandy Brown, Director of Marketing and Sales

Angela Brice

“I worked for four years in Southampton General Hospital in the Cardiothoracic Radiology & Paediatric Radiology departments as a medical secretary to the Senior Consultant Radiologists after which I worked for a recruitment consultancy as a PA before joining Denplan in 2002.

At Denplan I am PA to the Director of Marketing and Sales, providing day-to-day support which includes organising his diary, arranging meetings, booking flights and liaising with the Sales and Marketing teams. I also manage the Denplan Sponsorship Committee and deal with the arrangements for our corporate hospitality.

What do I like best about Denplan? I think the fact that I'm given the freedom to manage my own time. The teams I work with are also fantastic - people will go out of their way to help you here. I have to say, the benefits package here is another great thing - it is second to none.”

Stuart Solly - Finance Supervisor

“I've been working here at Denplan since 1991. I previously worked in a bank for two years, which was straight from school. I've always worked in a finance role, and my current job is to oversee the payroll function.

I am responsible for making sure that people are paid correctly and on time! I also have to produce monthly reports to the pension trustees, HM Revenue & Customs, as well as our senior management team.

I would say that the best thing about working at Denplan has to be the people...plus, in my role, no two days are the same.”

Dan Hellings - Software Tester

Dan Hellings

“I have been working at Denplan since 2005. Before joining Denplan I completed a degree in ‘Sports Science & Coaching with Educational studies’ and for a couple of years after that I did a variety of temping jobs. A friend told me about an opportunity at Denplan and I joined the Company in 2005 as a Customer Advisor.

I then progressed to a Senior Customer Advisor and during this time I also covered maternity leave for the Registration Administration & Conversions Supervisor. In April 2008 I joined IT on a secondment as an IT Software Tester. Apart from some time out traveling I have been in IT Testing ever since.

I was made a permanent Software tester in the IT Care & Maintenance Team in December 2009. In my current role I am responsible for testing fixes for all the various Denplan applications. This also involves liaising with the other in-house departments as well as dealing with third party suppliers.

I think the best thing about working for Denplan is the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It is the best company I've ever worked for in that respect, that and the social aspects.”
