Steve Gates - Managing Director

Steve Gates

Steve joined the Denplan team as Marketing Manager in 1995, bringing with him wide experience of marketing and research from within the healthcare and insurance industries. In November 1999 Steve was made Director of Marketing and Strategy and at the end of January 2001 was appointed Managing Director.

As Denplan's Managing Director, Steve is responsible for the overall strategic direction and growth of all its activities, in association with the Denplan Board and other Executive Leadership team members.  He works particularly closely in areas of new product and business development, while maintaining hands on links with the dental profession.

Dr Roger Matthews - Chief Dental Officer

Roger Matthews

Roger joined Denplan in 1995 having spent 20 years working in general dental practice and as a Dento-Legal Advisor for the Medical Defence Union.

He is responsible for co-ordinating dental advice to the Company and is involved in maintaining Denplan's outside links to other professional bodies such as the BDA, GDC, CQC and Faculty. He has written a textbook on Risk Management in Dentistry, speaks and lectures to Denplan member dentist groups and other professional bodies, and is a press and media spokesman for Denplan, as well as the main contributor to the trade press.

Dr Henry Clover - Deputy Chief Dental Officer

Henry Clover

Henry has had 17 years experience in general dental practice, both in the NHS and private sectors. He ran his own practice in North Baddesley and did an NHS to Denplan conversion in 1993

Concurrently, Henry was actively involved with the BDA on a regional level and worked part time for Dental Protection Limited. Henry then joined Denplan in 1999, initially providing professional support to the complaints handling team. Since then he has provided dental advice and support across the business.

As Deputy Chief Dental Officer, Henry supports Roger in enhancing relationships with other professional bodies and provides leadership for the Professional Services team.

Julia Dawson - Director of Customer Services

Julia Dawson

Julia joined Denplan in 1990, running the Administration department and in 1992 moved to manage the Practice Support and Customer Advisor teams. During 1994, Julia transferred to the Professional Services department, and in 1997 became Head of Operational Development before becoming Head of Denplan's Customer Service division in 1999.

Now as Director of Customer Services, Julia has overall responsibility for the Practice Support Advisors, Customer Advisors, Registration and Administration Services, Insurance and Helpline, Corporate Customer Services teams and the Out-of-Hours Helpline team.

Working closely with the other divisions across the company Julia and her team are constantly looking for ways in which we can improve and diversify our service offering.

Sandy Brown - Director of Marketing and Sales

Sandy Brown

Sandy joined Denplan in 1992 as a Denplan Care Consultant for Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England. As the business expanded he was appointed Regional Manager for the same area.

Early in 2000 Sandy was appointed to the position of Head of Denplan Sales which brought with it the added responsibility of being a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Sandy's entire career at Denplan has been sales and customer service focused. After becoming Director of Denplan Sales in April 2001, Sandy was appointed to Director of Marketing and Sales in July 2005

Pam Whelan - Corporate Dental Sales Manager

Pam Whelan

Pam joined Denplan in 2000 as a Corporate Consultant having previously worked within the financial sector.

In January 2003 Pam took over responsibility for the relationship with corporate bodies, becoming Corporate Dental Sales Manager in January 2005, where she is responsible for the Corporate Sales team.
