A little about Roger
Roger Matthews, Denplan’s Chief Dental Officer, has been with Denplan since 1995, having spent the previous 20 years working in general dental practice and as a Dento-Legal Advisor for the Medical Defence Union.
I think that the level of support Denplan offers its members sets it apart from the competition."
Roger’s role at Denplan
Roger’s role at Denplan includes overseeing the provision of dental advice to the company and its links with professional bodies. He’s also responsible for Denplan’s Professional Services team and as part of this Roger provides professional support to members in four key areas:
- Training – clinical and non-clinical
- The Denplan Excel Accreditation Programme
- An intermediary in disputes and facilitating resolutions
- The Goodwill Transfer Programme
- Providing advice and guidance on dental changes
As well as answering day to day queries and giving advice, his team receive 20 to 30 calls a day with questions about anything from Clinical Governance and new standards to legislation and infection control.
Roger is also involved in ensuring that every dentist who joins Denplan meets the standards set out to guarantee Denplan members are all practising at a certain level. Roger commented:
“I have been here at Denplan for over 15 years now and I like to think that my team and I enable members to get on with the business of dentistry by making the process of asking questions and dealing with problems as straightforward as possible. We also visit around 200 practices a year to make sure that they are offering the standards we expect from all our members.”
Why Denplan?
So what has kept Roger with Denplan for so long? ‘It’s simple’, replies Roger: “Every year I meet between 400-500 dentists who have had their passion for their profession re-ignited since joining Denplan.”
“One of the reasons I chose to work with Denplan was that they were set up by dentists, for dentists. That was over 20 years ago, and the whole team still care as much about the dental profession now as they did back then.”
“Having spent over 25 years as a practising dentist myself, I think that the level of support Denplan offers its members sets it apart from other specialists. It also allows members to concentrate on preventive dentistry and revive their enthusiasm for the profession – which gives me a real buzz too!”
It is important to remember that signing up to become a member will let you experience some of the practice support services we offer and give you a flavour of how you can benefit from them."
“Alternatively, you could chat through your options with one of our Consultants - whichever works best for you. Denplan always strives to be at the heart of dentistry and to help you provide the high-quality, clinical and preventive dental care you trained for.”
