November marks #MouthCancerAction Month!
An important campaign, organised by the Oral Health Foundation, that we are proud supporters of, which aims to raise awareness of a disease that impacts countless lives across the country and the world. There were over 8,300 new cases of mouth cancer diagnosed in the UK last year, and the increase of mouth cancer over the last 10 years in the UK has risen by 49%. Last year, 2,722 Brits lost their life the mouth cancer.
Mouth Cancer Action Month is another opportunity for the dental profession to highlight the risks and symptoms of this devastating disease. Read Dr Chet Trivedy’s article (as printed in Issue 5 of Insight Magazine) as he explains how the CAST tool can help practices with early detection, prevention and treatment for Mouth Cancer.
The CAST tool is a simple checklist for the dental team to look at preventing mouth cancer and promoting early detection

You can create and upload your own #BlueLipSelfie easily and quickly at www.bluelipselfie.co.uk where you can also take a look at our gallery. Alternatively, why not submit your snaps to our gallery from Twitter or Instagram by using #BlueLipSelfie?
Whether you strike a pose using cartoon lips, stickers, or blue lipstick, your visible show of support will help us make people more aware about mouth cancer, and crucially, encourage people to get any concerns they may have checked out.
