If you’re not a runner but you dream of taking part in a marathon, then our London Marathon Walk could be the perfect alternative for you. Join us as we take a 26-mile route through our capital city, taking in iconic sights and less visited corners whilst raising money for Alzheimer’s Society. This challenging day sees us setting off early along the South Bank, and takes us through peaceful parks and alongside waterways, passing iconic landmarks as we walk through the historic heart of the city. This is an enormous challenge for walkers and shouldn’t be underestimated but with so much to see, the 26 miles will fly by.
You’ll start at Jubilee Gardens next to the London Eye and head east along the embankment towards the City crossing many iconic bridges and passing St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. From here we head northeast, through the the edgy, urban communities of Spitalfields and Shoreditch, passing old docks and markets. A section of canal towpaths and parks brings us through the lively borough of Camden and around to Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill which commands a fantastic panorama across the city. From Little Venice we walk towards the vibrant area of Notting Hill and then through Kensington Gardens, passing the Royal Albert Hall and Natural History Museum. We will then walk through the affluent districts of South Kensington and Chelsea towards Buckingham Palace and The Mall. Our final miles see us passing Westminster Abbey and the iconic Houses of Parliament, crossing Westminster Bridge and on to our well-earned finish line beneath the London Eye!
There will be a celebration with your fellow achievers before returning home.
