Dr. Mike Waplington BDS, MDentSc- Contemporary Endodontics: A hands-on course for the general dental practitioner

Mike Waplington is a specialist in endodontics based in Evesham and Birmingham UK, and is a Past President of the British Endodontic Society. Mike is an extremely popular lecturer who has 20 years’ experience in delivering a range of hands-on courses. He has designed a brand new full-day programme especially for Simplyhealth Professionals which will provide practical training in the latest endodontic equipment, materials and clinical techniques.   

Aims and Objectives

This lecture aims to provide an update and practical hands-on training using the latest materials, equipment and evidence-based clinical techniques for the management of endodontic disease. 

By the end of this program delegates will be able to demonstrate understanding and practical skill in the following subject areas:

• Detection and diagnosis of endodontic disease
• Case selection for endodontic procedures
• Predictable isolation techniques
• Access
• Root canal instrumentation
• Root canal disinfection techniques

Dr Sunny Lathar BDS MFGDP(UK) PGDip NSFA (UCLan) -  Introduction to Facial Aesthetics in Dental Practice 

Biography

sunny-latharSunny Lathar is a GDP in Ormskirk, Lancashire. He qualified from Liverpool University in 1987  and gained his membership to the FGDP in 2006. An interest in the developing domain of Facial Aesthetics led to being one of the first 4 Clinicians in the country to have a University accredited qualification in that field in 2011.

This course comprises an intensive full-day programme designed for dentists and any members of the dental team with an interest in Facial Aesthetics. The course is suitable for complete beginners to clinicians with a basic knowledge in Toxin and Derma Fillers and will cover all aspects including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, documenting aesthetic dental procedures and record keeping and photography.

Aims and Objectives

This course aims to provide a base of knowledge in the pharmacology associated with toxins/ derma fillers along with guidance in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and documenting facial aesthetic procedures.

By the end of this course delegates will be able to demonstrate understanding of:

• Pharmacology of toxins and derma fillers
• Indications, consent and medico-legal issues relating to Facial Aesthetics
• Complications and correctional options

Development outcomes

By the end of this course delegates will hopefully be able to decide whether to pursue further training in this field with an accredited training program. This CPD course meets the criteria for categories A, C and D of the GDC’s development outcomes.

This hands-on course will consider current concepts in ultraconservative e.max and zirconia restorations and revolutionary composite techniques which dramatically widen the indications and increase the longevity of direct composite restorations.

By the end of this course delegates will be able to demonstrate understanding and practical skill in the following subject areas:

• Minimally invasive tooth preparation techniques for inlays, onlays, veneers and crowns

• Impressions (including digital)

• Diastema closure and reshaping of leg lateral incisors

Dipesh Parmar combines general practice with an extensive international lecture schedule on minimally invasive aesthetic techniques.

This lecture will provide an overview of the latest equipment, materials and clinical techniques for the minimally invasive aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth.
