Roger joined us in 1995 having spent 20 years working in general dental practice and as a dento-legal advisor for the Medical Defence Union. He oversees dental advice to the company and its links with professional bodies, and is responsible for Denplan’s professional services.

Henry Clover

Henry is a former general dental practitioner who converted his own practice to private practice in 1993. With his experience as a Denplan member dentist, he joined our Professional Services department on a part-time basis in 1998. Henry is now our Deputy Chief Dental Officer as well as being a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Iain Chapple

Prof. Iain Chapple

Iain Chapple is Professor and head of Periodontology and Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Birmingham Dental School. He runs the Periodontal Research Group, part of the MRC Centre for Immune Regulation and also runs a referral service for a base of over 6million. He is a member of the executive board of the European Federation of Periodontology and chairs their Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). He is Associate Editor of Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Periodontology 2000 and has written 7 textbooks and many book chapters. He is President-elect of the British Society of Periodontology. His clinical interests are periodontal medicine, risk assessment and periodontal plastic surgery. He acts as a Consultant to Oral Health Innovations (OHI) on periodontal matters.

Mike Busby

Mike Busby

Mike Busby, Dental Advisor and former General Dental Practitioner, specializes in the importance of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). During his time with the company Mike has been heavily involved with the development of the Denplan Excel Oral Health Score and the Denplan Excel Patient Survey. Now also an Honorary Lecturer in Primary Dental Care at Birmingham Dental School, Mike has recently completed an MPhil in 'Measuring Success in Dental Practice'.

Dr Catherine Rutland

As Head of Professional Support Services at Simplyhealth Professionals, Dr Catherine Rutland leads the team that provides assistance to member dentists; helping to support them with all aspects of running their practices successfully, with particular focus on providing advice and support during clinical disputes and times of professional risk. After qualifying as a dentist from Leeds University in 1992 and doing a year as a House Officer, Catherine worked as a Senior House Officer in Newcastle before settling into general dental practice. Catherine joined Simplyhealth Professionals part-time in 2010 and was promoted to her current position in 2016. Catherine completed a Masters in Medical Ethics and Law from King's College London in 2013. She is also a certified member of the Institute of Risk Management and completed a Level 7 Certificate in Leadership Mentoring and Coaching in 2016.

Lisa Humble - Academy Trainer

Lisa Humble

Background - Lisa started working for the company in 2017 as an Academy trainer. She has worked in healthcare since 2004, is a qualified midwife as well as having a PGCE, NEBOSH general certificate, level 4 in food safety and is a qualified first aider. Before working for the Academy Lisa worked in the NHS and private sector, with charities in the health sector and has trained a range of professionals in health care and health and safety. Specialist areas - Lisa loves being an Academy trainer as she gets to develop her own knowledge and share this with dental practices. Lisa likes to make a training day fun and her favourite areas to train are team work, exploring a team’s strengths and dementia as she has both personal and professional experience in this area.

Jane Maylor - Academy Trainer

Jane Maylor

Background - Jane started working for the company in 2008 as an academy trainer. She has a diploma in positive psychology as well as qualifications in SDI and introduction to dentistry. Before becoming a trainer Jane spent 6 years in sales and 15 years training customer care in retail. Specialist areas - Jane loves being an academy trainer because every day is different, every practice is different and she can train the same modules with different outcomes. Jane’s favourite area of training is customer care, she also enjoys team building and likes to support practices in overcoming their challenges. Outside of work - You will find Jane getting muddy as she marshals muddy obstacle racing, if not she will be open water swimming or running.
