Benefits of Denplan’s compliance support: Insights from Felicity Fox
Vanessa Angel, one of Denplan’s Clinical Support Specialists, caught up with Felicity Fox, a Denplan Business Consultant within the Southwest, to discuss the benefits Felicity has seen when practices utilise Denplan’s compliance support.
What benefits have you seen within practices that utilise Denplan’s compliance support?
Operational efficiency: Compliance support streamlines practice operations by clarifying management processes, reducing administrative burden, and improving time and resource management. This leads to a more organised, less stressful working environment.
Regulatory compliance: Ensures alignment with standards set by regulatory bodies, professional associations and licensing authorities. Maintaining compliance requires continuous monitoring of updates and proactive policy and procedure reviews.
Enhanced patient safety: Compliance with clinical standards reduces risks such as infection and cross-contamination. It ensures consistent implementation of sterilisation protocols and adherence to infection control procedures, safeguarding and patient wellbeing.
Ethical standards: Maintaining principles such as informed consent, confidentiality, and respect for patient autonomy helps build trust between practice staff and patients. Continuous education and training are vital to support ethical decision-making and uphold professional integrity.
Risk management: Compliance support enables dental practices to pinpoint and resolve areas needing improvement. Helping to reduce staff burnout and maintain standards across all regulatory requirements.
Strategic benefit: Innovative practices are turning regulatory compliance into a catalyst for meaningful progress, driving improvements in care quality and patient outcomes.
Can you provide an example of how Denplan’s compliance support has benefited a dental practice? What were the key advantages for the practice in using our compliance services?
Yes, one practice experienced a negative outcome following a CQC inspection.
Although the principal dentist had been a long-standing Denplan member, they had not been making use of our regulation and legislation manuals. After the inspection, they reached out for support. I promptly contacted the Clinical Support Specialist team, who were eager to assist. They engaged directly with the practice to offer tailored guidance.
The Clinical Support Specialist reviewed the CQC report with the practice, identified areas needing improvement and helped the practice implement the manuals effectively. They also highlighted the specific supporting documents required to address each failed outcome.
The practice now understands what is available to them as a Denplan member, and they will be compliant at their next inspection.
We have been a Denplan member for over fifteen years and have seen the progression of the very useful Denplan quality manuals over these years. When we became an Excel member, this was a very useful tool kit for us and our patients. We wanted to deliver excellent practice, not only for us to use in-house, but also to give peace of mind to our loyal patients. The very high standard of delivering this service is down to the clinical directives team at Denplan. They follow the same guidelines as if we were having a government-led CQC inspection.
Being an Excel member not only gives us confidence to be the best we can be, but also to all our team, right through from the receptionist to the Dentist. We feel so lucky to have a dedicated team working alongside us who are keeping us updated with key information through regular bulletins.
Having our Denplan Excel inspections keeps us at the forefront of the dentistry sector.
