Catherine Rutland
Clinical Director
As Clinical Director at Simplyhealth and Denplan, Dr Catherine Rutland leads a team that provides clinical governance advice to all areas of the business, as well as advice on clinical matters to maintain our customers’ confidence in us. Her team also provides assistance to member dentists; helping to support them with all aspects of running their practices successfully, through regulatory and legislative advice, clinical mediation, clinical risk management and our quality program.
After qualifying as a dentist from Leeds University in 1992 and doing a year as a House Officer, Catherine worked as a Senior House Officer in Newcastle before settling into general dental practice.
Catherine joined Denplan in 2010 and was promoted to Clinical Director in 2019.
In addition, Catherine has 19 years’ experience as a joint partner in a private dental practice in Berkshire. In 2013, she completed a Masters in Medical Ethics and Law from King's College London. Catherine is also a certified member of the Institute of Risk Management and completed a Level 7 Certificate in Leadership Mentoring and Coaching in 2016.
Louis Mackenzie
Head Dental Officer
Louis was an early adopter of Denplan payment plans and has been a Denplan dentist for 30 years. In addition, Louis has been a clinical lecturer at the University Of Birmingham’s School Of Dentistry for 16 years and works in the postgraduate department at King’s College London.
Louis has delivered over 1000 hands-on courses and lectures across the UK and internationally on direct and indirect restorative techniques, clinical photography and minimally invasive dentistry. He is a member of Dental Update’s editorial board and is the academic lead of Birmingham University’s MSc in Restorative dentistry.
At Denplan, Louis has been Head of Clinical Training since 2015, working with the events and training team to design and deliver training courses to our member practices, before becoming Head Dental Officer in April 2020.
