Louis Mackenzie was the Head Dental Officer at Denplan from April 2020 to December 2023.
Louis was involved with Denplan for over thirty years, as a General Dental Practitioner, an educator and as Head Dental Officer.
Louis believed strongly in the focus that Denplan plans place on prevention, regular attendance and minimally invasive dentistry.
He was a brilliant educator, who loved to share his knowledge and support people to grow professionally. He inspired so many to develop their skills in order to enhance patient care and to enjoy their work in dentistry.
In 2020 when all face-to-face education became impossible, he developed the first of four series of lectures to be delivered online. At a time when much of the profession were forced to be at home, these lectures provided a much-needed connection with the wider profession for all of those who attended, and also those who presented.
More recently, his work on green dentistry has led to a package of support to our member dentists who wish to become more sustainable.
He is much missed by so many, yet his legacy of education will continue through all who learnt from him.
